first realized that she wanted to be a veterinarian
at the young age of 6 years old. During her childhood, her love
of animals grew as she helped her father, a wildlife biologist,
recuperate orphaned or injured skunks, turtles, birds, and an assortment
of other creatures. She later earned a Batchelor of Science degree
in Animal Science at the University of Vermont, where she graduated
summa cum laude. She then attended Tufts University, School of Veterinary
Medicine. While at Tufts, Dr. Cross earned several academic excellence
awards and was admitted to the prestigious Phi Zeta veterinary honor
society.
Having lived in northern New England (Massachusetts, Vermont,
and New Hampshire) all her life, Dr. Cross loves this area and made
the natural decision to move back north after receiving her veterinary
degree. She arrived at Lakes Region Veterinary Hospital in the spring
on 2006.
Dr. Cross has special interests in pain management, animal behavior,
dentistry and orthopedics. She has completed extensive training
in canine physical rehabilitation (the application of physical therapy
techniques to animals) and is actively working towards certification
this year. She has also received special instruction in ultrasonography.
Dr. Cross is currently a member of the American Veterinary Association,
New Hampshire Veterinary Medical Association, and the International
Veterinary Academy of Pain Management.
When she is not working, Dr. Cross enjoys hiking, skiing, tennis,
biking, and cooking. She shares her home with two adorable but mischievous
kitties, Thai and Kenya.
