At Lakes Region Veterinary Hospital, we consider ourselves not only
a team, but a large family dedicated to the lives and well-being
of our patients. So, of course, it is not a surprise that our family
members within the hospital include house residents with four legs…..
Meet our resident house kitties. They have
come to live with us under special circumstances of course, and
they each have their own special story on how they became a forever
part of our family….
(Bobby, Bobbo, Bobcat, Bobhouse, Bob-a-roo, etc)
Our resident house cat Bob, a 5-7 year old Orange Tabby cat
came to us as a stray found outside by one of our clients during
the cold fall/winter months of 2000. He arrived here cold, hungry,
dirty, and worst of all had no home to call his own. We contacted
area shelters and posted notices on his discovery. No one called.
Bob was lost. But that wasn’t for too long, because Bob
became quite used to our hospital routine. Dog encounters had
bothered him at first, but he eventually got used to the hospital
environment and we called him our new family member. His usual
spot is in the reception area where he greets our patients and
their family members daily. When the sun goes down in the late
afternoon, he likes this particular spot by the window (as pictured
below). Bobby is a cool, calm, and collected individual. He loves
to sleep in baskets and beds (which we have strategically located
throughout the hospital of course). We love him dearly.
(Paugy,
Princess, Brat, Paugy-Loo)
Paugus came to Lakes Region Veterinary Hospital in August of
2000. She was brought in by a couple of high school students as
a 9 week old kitten that was found injured outside of a local
restaurant. They were not able to keep her, and her injuries were
life-threatening. So, we took action. She sustained a broken leg,
and had some minor cuts and scratches - most likely a trauma from
an animal attack or she may have been hit be a car. Dr. Jonna
Cubeddu, then a new addition to the practice, agreed to perform
a leg amputation surgery to save her life. During her long recovery,
Little Paugus became so accustomed to our staff, and seemed to
fit in to the hospital environment so well, we decided that this
was her new home. Paugus became a new member to our family. Since
then, Paugus had delighted our hearts and made our daily routines
never so eventful. In 2004, Paugus had been diagnosed with fibrosarcoma
… a type of aggressive cancer. After many surgical procedures,
and loving support, Paugus had succumbed to her disease. She will
forever remain a huge part of our lives, and she will never be
forgotten in our hearts.
In Loving Memory of Paugus
June 2000 – July 12, 2004
Her life was but a brief period of time, her memories lasting
forever. Her expressive face and morning drinks in the sink will
be greatly missed. Our daily routine will never be the quite the
same without our beloved three-legged princess.
We miss you & love you Paugus
